The Department of the Environment, Heritage & and Climate Change are pleased to report on the recent investment in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to futher their Environmental Research and monitoring.

Unmanned aerial vehicles also known as drones, are enabling new ways of working, increasing efficiency, reducing costs and minimizing impacts within established and emerging sectors.

Whether it's surveying or urban planning, innovation in media coverage, new capabilities for emergency responders, or environmental research and monitoring, the use of drones and the sensors they carry can expedite their work in significant ways.

Outside of the environmental applicability drones represent a tremendous opportunity for the Department of the Environment to support and collaborate with a wider cross section of Government departments, augmenting data capture, data availability and data interpretation. Offering the potential of a powerful new perspective across a variety of requirements, delivering both productivity benefits and increased value from the data that is collected.
