Birds found in Gibraltar

The Rock of Gibraltar, and especially the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, has many trees and plants as we all know. What we might not know is that these trees and plants grow fruits and seeds that are important to the birds that visit Gibraltar.

The picture below shows the route that many different birds take when migrating to, and from, Africa. As you can see from the picture, a lot of them fly passed Gibraltar

Many of these birds will stop in Gibraltar and its surrounding area, to rest and feed before flying on to their final destination. Some birds even stay in Gibraltar during the winter months and return to Northern Europe in summer. Other birds live in Gibraltar all year round.
